Abdominal Depth

The depth of the abdomen measured from the front to the back.

AbdominalDepth

How to measure

Application

Used in vehicle steering wheel and seat clearance design, clothing front panel sizing, and medical body composition assessment.

Posture

Stand upright, breathing normally.

Landmark

Measured at mid-exhale at the point of maximum protrusion of the abdomen, typically at navel height, from front to back.

Tool

Spreading caliper or tape measure.

Clothing

Remove bulky layers around the abdomen.

Common mistake

Deliberately pulling in the stomach or measuring at full exhale reduces the result. Breathe normally and measure at mid-exhale.

API example

Request a predicted value for a 34-year-old woman at the 50th percentile in the United States. Adjust age, percentile, gender, and country to match your design scenario.
