Bitragion Width

The width between the two tragion points on the head.

BitragionWidth

How to measure

Application

Used in headset, hearing protection, and eyewear temple design to determine the required lateral span of a device across the head at ear level.

Posture

Head level, looking straight ahead.

Landmark

Measured between the two tragion points — the small notch at the top of each ear canal opening where the ear meets the face.

Tool

Spreading caliper or tape measure.

Assistance

A second person should locate both tragion points and position the caliper.

Common mistake

Measuring to the outer edge of the ear rather than the tragion notch gives a wider and incorrect result.

API example

Request a predicted value for a 34-year-old woman at the 50th percentile in the United States. Adjust age, percentile, gender, and country to match your design scenario.
