Buttock Popliteal Length

The length from the buttock to the back of the knee.

ButtockPoplitealLength

How to measure

Application

Used in seat depth design. A seat deeper than this measurement presses into the back of the knee and restricts circulation.

Posture

Sit upright on a firm, flat surface with knees bent to 90°.

Landmark

Measured horizontally from the back of the buttock to the back of the knee crease.

Tool

Tape measure or rigid ruler.

Common mistake

Confuse this with buttock-knee length. The endpoint here is the back of the knee crease, not the front of the kneecap. This measurement is always shorter than buttock-knee length.

API example

Request a predicted value for a 34-year-old woman at the 50th percentile in the United States. Adjust age, percentile, gender, and country to match your design scenario.
