Ear Length

The length from the top of the ear to the bottom.

EarLength

How to measure

Application

Used in hearing aid design, helmet retention system placement, and eyewear temple length sizing.

Posture

Head level, looking straight ahead.

Landmark

Measured from the highest point of the outer ear (helix) to the lowest point of the earlobe.

Tool

Digital caliper or rigid ruler.

Common mistake

Measure to the very bottom of the earlobe. Stopping where the lobe meets the jaw underestimates the result.

API example

Request a predicted value for a 34-year-old woman at the 50th percentile in the United States. Adjust age, percentile, gender, and country to match your design scenario.
