Elbow Fingertip Length

The length from the elbow to the fingertip.

ElbowFingertipLength

How to measure

Application

Used in workspace reach zone design, control panel layout, and furniture sizing to define the functional forward reach from the elbow.

Posture

Upper arm hanging naturally, elbow bent to 90°, fingers straight and together.

Landmark

Measured from the point of the elbow (olecranon) to the tip of the middle finger.

Tool

Rigid ruler or tape measure.

Common mistake

Measuring to the tip of the index finger rather than the middle finger shortens the result.
