Eye Scalp Distance

The distance from the eyes to the scalp.

EyeScalpDistance

How to measure

Application

Used in helmet and headwear internal design to position padding and retention systems at the correct height relative to the eye level.

Posture

Head level, looking straight ahead.

Landmark

Measured vertically from the outer corner of the eye to the scalp directly above it.

Tool

Rigid ruler or tape measure.

Clothing

Part the hair directly above the eye to measure to the scalp surface, not the hair surface.

Common mistake

Measuring to the top of the hair rather than the scalp overestimates the result.
