Fingertip Height

The height from the floor to the tips of the fingers.

FingertipHeight

How to measure

Application

Used in workspace and storage design to determine the lower limit of comfortable reach for standing users, such as the lowest shelf position.

Posture

Stand upright, arm hanging relaxed at the side, fingers straight and together.

Landmark

Measured from the floor to the tip of the middle finger.

Tool

Tape measure fixed vertically to a wall.

Common mistake

Curling the fingers downward to reach further gives an artificially low result. Keep fingers straight.

API example
