Hair Line

The distance from the hairline to the eyes (midline).

HairLine

How to measure

Application

Used in medical facial proportion assessment, forensic anthropology, and helmet front edge positioning relative to the forehead.

Posture

Head level, hair pushed fully back to expose the hairline.

Landmark

Measured vertically from the centre of the hairline on the forehead to the midpoint between the eyes.

Tool

Rigid ruler or tape measure.

Clothing

Push all hair back fully to expose the hairline edge before measuring.

Common mistake

If the hairline has receded unevenly, measure from the lowest point of the remaining central hairline, not the sides.
