Hand Breadth

The breadth of the hand at its widest point.

HandBreadth

How to measure

Application

Used in glove width sizing, tool handle diameter design, and ergonomic grip assessments.

Posture

Hand flat, palm facing downward, fingers straight and together.

Landmark

Measured across the widest point of the palm, at the base of the four fingers.

Tool

Digital caliper or rigid ruler.

Common mistake

Spreading the fingers widens the hand. Keep them pressed firmly together.
