Head Length
The length of the head from the forehead to the chin.
HeadLength
How to measure
Application
Used in helmet design, medical cranial assessment, and headwear sizing as the primary front-to-back skull dimension.
Posture
Head level, looking straight ahead.
Landmark
Measured from the glabella — the smooth area between the eyebrows — to the most rearward point of the skull.
Tool
Spreading caliper.
Assistance
A second person should locate the rearmost skull point and hold the caliper in place.
Common mistake
Measuring from the tip of the nose rather than the glabella significantly inflates the result.
