Head To Nose Tip

The distance from the head to the tip of the nose.

HeadToNoseTip

How to measure

Application

Used in mask, respirator, and helmet visor design to determine the maximum forward protrusion of the face and the clearance required inside the device.

Posture

Head level, looking straight ahead in profile.

Landmark

Measured from the tip of the nose to the most forward point of the face in profile, typically the forehead or glabella. Identifies how far the nose protrudes beyond the forehead plane.

Tool

Rigid ruler or spreading caliper.

Common mistake

If the nose is the most forward facial point, measure from the forehead plane outward to the nose tip, not between two nose points.

API example

Request a predicted value for a 34-year-old woman at the 50th percentile in the United States. Adjust age, percentile, gender, and country to match your design scenario.
