Knee Height

The height from the floor to the top of the knee.

KneeHeight

How to measure

Application

Used in desk, table, and vehicle dashboard design to determine the minimum clearance required above the floor for a seated user's knees.

Posture

Sit on a firm surface with knees bent to 90° and feet flat on the floor.

Landmark

Measured from the floor to the top of the kneecap.

Tool

Rigid ruler or tape measure.

Clothing

Remove shoes, or measure and subtract heel height separately.

Common mistake

Measuring to the front of the kneecap rather than the top gives a lower result.

API example

Request a predicted value for a 34-year-old woman at the 50th percentile in the United States. Adjust age, percentile, gender, and country to match your design scenario.
