Shoulder Breadth Bideltoid

The breadth of the shoulders measured across the deltoid muscles.

ShoulderBreadthBideltoid

How to measure

Application

Used in doorway and access design, crowd flow modelling, body armour sizing, and aircraft seat width to accommodate the full physical width of a standing person.

Posture

Stand upright, arms hanging relaxed at the sides.

Landmark

Measured across the widest point of both shoulders, including the deltoid muscles.

Tool

Tape measure or spreading caliper.

Clothing

Remove bulky outer layers. A fitted top is fine.

Common mistake

Tensing the shoulders or crossing the arms inflates the result. Stay completely relaxed.

API example

Request a predicted value for a 34-year-old woman at the 50th percentile in the United States. Adjust age, percentile, gender, and country to match your design scenario.
