Shoulder Elbow Length
The length from the shoulder to the elbow.
ShoulderElbowLength
How to measure
Application
Used in armrest height design, prosthetic arm proportioning, and ergonomic reach assessments at elbow level.
Posture
Upper arm hanging naturally at the side, elbow bent to 90°.
Landmark
Measured from the bony tip of the shoulder (acromion) to the point of the elbow (olecranon).
Tool
Rigid ruler or tape measure.
Assistance
A second person should locate both landmarks and hold the tape ends in place.
Common mistake
Raising the arm changes the position of the acromion. Keep the arm hanging naturally throughout.
