Biocular

The distance between the two eyes.

Biocular

How to measure

Application

Used in eyewear, goggle, virtual reality headset, and face mask design to determine the required horizontal span between lenses or eye openings.

Posture

Head level, looking straight ahead.

Landmark

Measured between the outer corners of the two eyes (outer canthi), not the pupils or inner corners.

Tool

Digital caliper or rigid ruler.

Common mistake

Measuring between the inner corners (inner canthi) gives intercanthal width — a narrower and different measurement used for a different purpose.

API example

Request a predicted value for a 34-year-old woman at the 50th percentile in the United States. Adjust age, percentile, gender, and country to match your design scenario.
